Our (occasional) Friday Video post today is truly awesome. And it’s clearly our new favorite in the hospital/healthcare category from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.
If you haven’t seen the Hey, Jude! Make it Better online campaign, take three minutes to watch patients, staff, researchers and a string of celebrities present an unforgettable cover of the Beatles classic. (Beware of earworm; it just might get stuck in your brain.)
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, is a pediatric treatment and research facility focused on children’s catastrophic diseases. Producer Tony Thomas, the son of hospital founder Danny Thomas, created the Hey, Jude! Video. The appeal is short, simple and direct:
St. Jude needs your help to “make it better” for kids everywhere fighting cancer and other deadly diseases. No family ever pays St. Jude for anything. For as little as $5, you can help us save lives. Or, donate $35 and get the #heystjude T-shirt seen in the video on our kids and your favorite celebrities. Join us today!
Actress Marlo Thomas, Tony’s sister, provides the back-story in this Huffington article. She concludes: “’The final video looks just the way it did in my head,’ Tony told me on the phone this morning. ‘But even more important, we achieved what we set out to do: Now, whenever anybody hums ‘Hey, Jude,’ they’ll be thinking about St. Jude, too. It doesn’t get much better than that!’”
